Various types of plants form the foundation of food chain in the taiga biome. The taiga is located near the top of the world, just below the tundra biome. This canopy soaks up the sun and only lets a little bit of sunlight through to the ground.

The evergreen spruce (picea), fir (abies), and pine (pinus), and the deciduous larch or tamarack (larix). Examples of conifers include pines,. People often call it as a snow forest.

Characteristics of the tundra biome. The taiga is also known as the boreal forest. In fact, some of the great agricultural regions are found in this biome.

Also found in this biome are wild flowers such as oxlip, bluebells, painted trillium and primrose. Others like to call it boreal forest. Spruce, evergreen, pine, and fir.

The conifers of the taiga produce their seeds in cones. Since the climate of taiga biome is extremely cold, there are only a few verities of plants. The earth has many different biomes, with each one containing many different living organisms that have adapted to the environment.

The biome is home to various species of plants. The coniferophyta division contains conifers, which have the greatest variety of species among gymnosperms.most conifers are evergreen (retain their leaves throughout the year) and include some of the largest, tallest and oldest trees on the planet. Precipitation is moderate in the taiga.

It gets much colder in the winter. The fourth dominant coniferous tree in the taiga is a deciduous tree known as tamarack. The winters in the taiga are very cold with only snowfall.
